How it works
Aspect ratio describes the proportional relationship between an image's width and height. Dividing both by their greatest common divisor reduces them to a standard ratio like 16:9 or 4:3. Handy for video editing, thumbnail design, and print layout when you need to check a source ratio.
FAQ
Q. What's the difference between 16:9 and 16:10?
A. 16:9 is the standard for most TVs, monitors, and video, while 16:10 is slightly taller and common on productivity laptops and monitors.
Q. Why calculate megapixels?
A. Knowing total megapixels makes it easier to gauge real image quality when comparing print resolution or camera specs.
